I have been extremely busy lately with the start of class and such, plus there hasn't been much hockey related news, so it's been awhile since I have posted here. Thankfully there has still been some interest in this blog, so I have reason to keep it going.
We start with a concept! Sam sent in a concept for a green jersey featuring lots of wheat. It goes for a very classic look, using only two colors everywhere but the logo. Notice the primary logo as the crest, yellow/gold nowhere to be seen. Nice job!
We also have some uniform news! Well, not for the Wild. Minnesota's AHL affiliate, the Houston Aeros, unveiled new jerseys for the upcoming season. The home (white) jersey uses a generic Reebok template.
The road is a green jersey in the form of the Wild's current home jersey template. Perhaps that is how the Wild could do a new green jersey someday in the future.
Finally, the alternate jersey. This is perhaps the most intriguing of the three. It uses the Wild's current alternate template, only in wheat. At least, it looks wheat. It could actually be white, but it looks wheat to me. It follows the same script design for the crest. Once again, this may be something we end up seeing from the Wild in the future. One can only hope!
So that's all I have right now. Hopefully more concepts will come in as we get closer to hockey season. And I have a few ideas for contests for later on, so stay tuned!

Matching the Road

In most concepts, we see a jersey design that matches the Wild's current home jersey, and sometimes the alternate. We rarely see a concept using the current road jersey as inspiration. This concept from Goal Line Design does just that. The road jersey receives a few small changes, with a red home jersey being based off of that. Everything is tied together quite nicely, nice job!
Keep sending in your concepts everyone!

The Changes Are Here
On Saturday, January 30th, 2010, I told you all of some possible changes to the Wild's uniforms. Well, preseason hockey has begun, and those changes have indeed taken place. The first thing I said was that the Wild would be wearing different pants. Actually, they would just wear the alternate, stripe-less pants full time. And I was correct.

Here are last year's pants for comparison:

I also spoke of possible changes to the road jersey. And changes have been made. The old shoulder patches have been removed. They have been replaced with an odd rectangular patch with the new wordmark inside.

I think they look awful. I don't mind the wordmark itself, but the rectangular patch is bad. Perhaps they are preparing for an all-new road jersey? One can only hope.
The original Wild wordmark has now been completely phased out. Say good-bye to the first Wild logo ever...

And finally, it appears the 10th Anniversary patch is only being worn on the alternate jerseys. Darn, I wanted to see it on all 3.

So, there you have it. That is basically your uniform season preview.

A Complete Set

The Wild currently have three completely different jersey designs. The home and road do not match at all. That isn't exactly a huge problem, but many have expressed interest in matching the home and road jerseys. Habsfan1 has done just that in this concept. He kept the home and the alternate as they are currently, but created a new road jersey to match the home. It uses the same design, only it is wheat. I think it is safe to say people want to see a wheat Wild jersey, myself included. Habsfan1 balanced the colors here, using red numbers and piping, and a red outline around the crest. Looks pretty good if you ask me...

More Wheat for the Road

Another Look at a Road Jersey

Ryan Haslett sent in a concept for a new road jersey for the Wild. It is white with an emphasis on green, similar to the Wild's current 3rd jersey. It uses the same script logo, with the colors modified to fit the jersey better. Notice the nameplate used on the back. It is green with wheat letters. The color on white nameplate comes from the Philedalphia Flyers, who currently use this idea on their ornage and Winter Classic jerseys. Cool road concept!
