NHL 2012: Minnesota Wild

For those of you that don't know, I have been working on an NHL concept project for the past few months. It is NHL 2012. NHL 2012 is a project I put together that takes a look at how teams might look in a few years. I have done a lot of research on NHL uniform trends and marketing over the years, as well as gathered information about possible upcoming changes for this project. In time for the 2012 NHL season, the league expands it's rules to allow teams to have a 4th jersey. This is mostly for marketing purposes. There are several new trends and fads introduced during the next few years, things like wordmarks on the hems of jerseys and other little things like that.

Anyway, I have been posting the teams alphabetically, and I recently got to Minnesota. Naturally, I thought I should post it here. Enjoy!

Minnesota Wild

2011: For the Wild's 10th season, the teams comes out in new home and road uniforms. And guess what, they are matching! The red jersey has been modified, and a wheat version is created for the road. The green jersey remains the alternate.

2012: The Wild decide to "go green" and make their alternate jersey their home jersey. A matching white version is also introduced for the road. The alternate wheat jersey ends up being worn several times at home, with the road team wearing their dark jerseys. It is also worn often on the road, almost as much as the designated road jersey.

A Pre-Edge Alternate Idea

Here is an idea I had for alternate jersey from the pre-Reebok Edge era. I modified the Stars old "Mooterus" template and added a few new things. I thought the original primary logo was best here. I also added the stars to the sleeves a a nod to the North Stars.

A Retro Concept

Here is a concept from myself, a retro jersey. It is inspired by the old Minnesota North Stars look, one of the team's earlier designs. I used the Wild's colors in the same striping design, and used the M from the 3rd jersey wordmark, representing the North Stars N. I tried to add a few other retro elements, such as the streaking star on the pants.

A Wild Design

Pretty fitting for the team name, I came up with an interesting design for a jersey. It is modeled after the All Star Game jerseys from a few years back, and a shirt I once saw in a store. The final result; a wild looking concept.

A Wheat Jersey

I am one who really wants to see the Wild take the ice in a wheat jersey, so I made a concept for that very idea. I made a wheat version of the current 3rd jersey. I couldn't decide which looked betterm so I posted two different options for the shoulder yoke color.

State of Hockey Jersey

I came up with an alternate red jersey for the Wild with the State of Hockey logo. I thought it would be cool if they wore it on Hockey Day Minnesota or a special event. Just an idea I guess.

Road Uniform Concept

We start with a concept from myself. It is a road uniform concept for Minnesota. I made a white version of the Wild's current 3rd jeresy, with some modifications. I tried to incorperate many of the aspects of the Wild's current road jersey.
